The official launch of the NERDC technology for converting petrol three-wheelers into electric vehicles was held on 21 November 2025 at the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERDC), Ekala. The event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Science and Technology, Hon. Chrishantha Abeysena. NERDC Chairman, Dr. H. C. Ambawatte, and Director General, Dr. Jayathu G. Samarawickrama, also graced the occasion, alongside invited guests, industry partners, and stakeholders.

The launch marked a significant milestone in advancing sustainable mobility and promoting locally developed green technology.
