National Engineering Research Symposium 2022 organized by NERDC

The National Engineering Research Symposium 2022 (NERS 2022); National Engineering Research and Development Center, the apex national institute in engineering research & development organized the National Engineering Research
Symposium for the third consecutive time. This was held on 17th November 2022 at NERD Centre in parallel to the National Science Week, which was established by the Ministry of Education.

The theme of National Engineering Research Symposium 2022 was “Driving the nation through engineering solutions towards self-reliance”.

Inaugural ceremony of the symposium was held at Kulasinghe Auditorium in NERDC & the chief guest as well as the key note speaker was Prof. (Mrs.) Meththika Vithanage, the Director of Ecosphere Resilience Research Center University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Mrs. Kumarie Meegahakotuwa, Director General (Planning), Ministry of Education, The Chairman of NERDC Prof. S.U. Adikary and Mrs. K.N. Wataliyadda, Mr. Jayamanna representing the Members of the Director Board were participated for the inaugural ceremony. The Director General of NERDC Dr. Jayathu G Samarawickrama, Deputy Director General (R&D) Dr. Anjana Liyanage, Deputy Director General (Services) Eng. A.A.S.P Jayasinghe, all the Directors & HoDs, Engineers, executives & technical staff participated for the inaugural ceremony.

Inaugural ceremony was followed by technical sessions conducted in four parallel sessions via virtual platform. Selected 26 numbers of peer reviewed research papers were presented by the researchers representing universities, R&D organizations and government institutions, in different engineering disciplines such as Agricultural and Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Social Impact Assessment, Energy Engineering and Process Improvements, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Computing Engineering.
