Description National Engineering Research & Development Centre of Sri Lanka has successfully developed Cinnamon oil distillation unit which consists of a heat exchanger, a boiler and a cinnamon still. One special feature of this unit is the evaporative cooling heat exchanger and it is used to condensed cinnamon oil rich steam instead of using cooling tanks in traditional cinnamon processing industry. The boiler which is used for steam generation is operated using saw dust stoves. The unit was tested at Cinnamon Research Station, Thihagoda, Matara.  Capacity : 25-30 kg of cinnamon bark / batch or 18-20 kg of cinnamon leaves / batch  Temperature of condensed oil/water mixture : 28-29 0C  Space requirement; for heat exchanger (LxWxH) - 0.5 x 0.5 x 2m for boiler (LxWxH) - 1.5 x 1.5 x 2.5m for still (Diameter/ height) - 60 cm / 135 cm
